PY299-003 Intro to Quantum Information Science

This course provides a comprehensive introduction of Quantum Information Science (QIS) through four modules. The first module explores the physical platforms for realizing quantum systems, including photons, atoms, superconducting ‘artificial’ atoms, and cavities. The second module focuses on the physics of controlling and measuring these quantum systems, using superconducting circuits as a key example to illustrate these concepts. Building upon this foundation, the third module introduces quantum gates, circuits, and fundamental quantum algorithms, as well as their realization in physical platforms. Finally, the fourth module discusses the diverse applications of QIS, including quantum sensing, computation, simulation, and communication.
